“A service of witness to the resurrection…”
A funeral or memorial service is, above all, a service of worship. The ‘congregation’ of family and loved ones gathers at God’s invitation to worship, seeking the comfort of scripture, prayer, and song, and proclaiming together, even in the midst of grief, the good news of God’s victory over sin and death.
“…in celebration of the life of…”
In the context of worship we find space for thanksgiving and remembrance, and for the multitude of emotions that accompany loss. We give thanks to God for a particular person who is loved by God and others; we remember a particular life that in its own ways showed God’s goodness and love; and we lean into the promises of forgiveness and eternal life in Jesus Christ for one and all.
United Church’s Memorial Garden
The Memorial Garden at The United Church of Marco Island is a sacred and peaceful space for remembrance, prayer, and celebration of life. Nestled within beautiful and newly renovated landscaping, the garden offers a serene environment where the memory of loved ones is honored and cherished.
Families are invited to reserve a plot in the Memorial Garden. Each plot accommodates the remains of two individuals and includes the engraving of names and life dates on the stone at the time of passing.
This sacred offering provides a lasting connection to our church community and a place of reflection for generations to come.
